Destiny

I believe in life, its beauty and mysteries.

I trust internal alchemy and believe in knowledge directed towards transforming everything that we can transform. When we do not believe in destiny, we have a lot of work ahead of us. Building our own destiny is an art and a technology.

I'm going to share a bit of my life story with you.

I devoted myself to this work. Very early on I discovered that this would be humankind's greatest achievement on Earth. When I was 20 years old I discovered Chinese culture and dedicated myself to understanding its mysteries. I began by studying the I Ching; I read all the literature available at that time in French, English and Spanish. It was the beginning of the 1970s, a time when young people all over the world were searching for exotic alternatives to relieve the anxieties in their lives. I was married to a scientist. We read a lot and put all our extra time and money into our studies. Since there were no serious studies of the I Ching published at that time, we tried to fill the void with great modern thinkers like Mircea Eliade, Rene Guenon, Jacques Bergier, Louis Powell, Timothy Leary, Carl Gustav Jung, Allan Watts, Levi-Strauss, Heisenberg, Aldous Huxley, Herman Hesse and the poet Fernando Pessoa. Many years later we delved into the ideas of Gregory Bateson, Gaston de Bachelard and Roland Barthes. I also searched the Greek classics for clues to understanding the essence of oriental thought, principally Chinese, my true passion.

I studied the Hatha, Raja, Bakhti and Maha Yoga schools. The Indian system never satisfied what I was able to visualize in the I Ching and Chinese thought. My practical world vision resisted the mystical vision of gods and goddesses so common in Indian culture. I studied a comparative history of religions and from that point began to search for a practical application of all I had learned.

For 7 years I searched in macrobiotics and George Osawa's work for an understanding of the interrelationship between Yin and Yang energy. I lived on a farm and ate what I planted. Some friends joined me on this adventure, and for a year we tried to live in perfect harmony with nature, learning to contemplate its changes. It was a valuable time of learning and practical application.

I refused to educate my children in the same way I had been educated. I perceived that in order to be successful I needed to dig deep into my cultural heritage and change the behavior patterns that were taught to me. Through hard work using psychoanalysis and oriented by the I Ching, I was able to educate responsible, free, creative children. My children have consulted the I Ching since they were 13 years old. They use it to find answers in moments of decisions and doubts. We are very proud of the harmonious family we raised.

I wrote my book about the I Ching in 1992 and published it in 1994 (click here to see book). Soon afterwards I felt I was lacking a more precise knowledge about the body and ways to administer its energy. I turned to studying the ancient Chinese Internal Alchemy and its procedures for opening the energy routes in the body and utilizing this energy for health, well-being and longevity. I traveled to Thailand and studied these ancient Chinese techniques with a taoist master. I became the first Healing Tao Organization teacher in Latin America.

Today I live and teach in Rio de Janeiro, and it would be my pleasure to guide you through this virtual navigation of Chinese wisdom and the fantastic Book of Changes. Shall we learn to build the future?
